Lison Paris Swimwear: A Summer Must-Have for Kids

Beau Coo recently had the chance to experience Lison Paris swimwear up close—an opportunity that came with an exclusive interview with the brand’s founders, sisters Alexandra and Olivia Baum. Their story is woven into every detail of their designs, and it shows. This behind‑the‑scenes look into their journey and design philosophy gives insight into what makes their swimwear a standout choice for modern families. In this review, I’m excited to share my experience with their collection—designed with a blend of French sophistication and practical charm that is perfect for families who live for summer, whether at the cottage, on a beach vacation, or during swim lessons.

As a family that is always around the water—whether it’s cottage days, beach vacations, or swim lessons—having the right swimwear is essential. A good bathing suit isn’t just another item in the closet; it’s a second skin. It needs to be comfortable, soft, durable, and beautiful—a piece that lets kids move freely while also making them feel good. Lison Paris has redefined what luxury kids swimwear can be by combining eco‑friendly, premium fabrics with a design ethos that caters to both aesthetics and functionality. And the best part? Their collection isn’t limited to girls only—they also offer a bathing suit line for boys, making it easy for the entire family to match in style. That really speaks to us, as a family with both genders!

French Swimwear with a Modern Twist

Lison Paris combines elegant French design with modern practicality that appeals to today’s discerning families. Take, for example, the Bora Bora suit—the frilled straps are a design element that adds just the right amount of feminine charm. The fabric is exceptionally soft and comfortable, making it ideal for long days by the water. May I also add, that it comes in 14 different colours?

The brand’s colourways and prints capture the carefree spirit of summer. I normally reach for neutral colours, but Lison Paris swimwear bursts with vibrant hues that instantly bring you to a sun‑drenched beach or a luxurious resort. Their playful yet refined aesthetic makes it clear that these swimsuits are designed to be worn with pride.

An Exclusive Look into the Lison Paris Story

Alexandra and Olivia Baum, Founders of Lison Paris

When Alex and Olivia started the brand, Lison Paris was born out of a real need. As parents—with Alex raising six kids!—both sisters struggled to find elegant, high-quality swimwear for children. Feeling like they had a lack of options, they decided to create their own.

We started the company in 2015 because we were so frustrated when looking for elegant and cute swimsuits for our kids. It was easy to find beautiful clothes but not swimwear,” they explained. Their solution was to create a brand that would fill this gap—one that combines aesthetics with functionality, and quality with design innovation.

From Inspiration to Identity

One perk of choosing your sister as your business partner is that they use their bond to get things done. Alex and Olivia’s collaborative spirit is one of the brand’s strongest assets. Despite having different personalities, the sisters have cultivated a synergies in their working relationship. They compliment one another perfectly and their combined vision is evident in every stitch of the Lison Paris collection.

When we started our brand, Olivia and I were sisters, but with the business, we have become incredibly close, almost telepathic. We have created a truly unique bond. Even our parents were surprised when we told them we had the idea of launching a brand together because we were SO different, and now people in the street think we are twins…

Honouring a Family Legacy

I started this collaboration with the founders just as I was grieving the loss of my grandmother. Learning that “Lison” was more than just a brand—a heartfelt tribute—felt especially meaningful.

Named after their beloved grandmother, whose grace, kindness, and love for beautiful objects left a mark on their lives, the brand carries a legacy of elegance and heart. Every piece is crafted with that same spirit in mind, ensuring that the swimwear not only looks good but also feels special.

Lison was [the name of] our beloved grandmother. She passed away but is always in our hearts. She was very elegant, kind and loving, with a true love for beautiful objects and art. She took care of us when we spent our summers in her favourite family home in Provence. She was such a gentle soul with such kindness.

Their journey has not been without challenges. The sisters, now living in different countries, have learned that maintaining a strong personal bond is essential to the success of any family business.

Our relationship after 10 years, and despite challenges, is intact. We made a promise to always make our relationship come first. The fact that we live in different countries can be a challenge for sure, but it has also been a way to keep our work and personal relationship healthy.”

Setting boundaries between business and personal relationships can be challenging, but these sisters have found a balance that sustains creativity and productivity. That is truly admirable and magnetic!

Why Quality Swimwear Matters for Active Families

For a family that is always swimming—whether it’s during summer vacations, beachside living, cottage getaways, or regular swim lessons—a comfortable and durable bathing suit is non‑negotiable. In my experience, quality swimwear should do more than just look cute. It needs to provide lasting comfort and support, withstand repeated exposure to water and sun, and be gentle on the skin.

The Investment in Luxury

Bathing suits by Lison Paris are an investment in quality. As a mother of 3, fast fashion can be a quick fix for wardrobe needs. But this also makes me all too familiar with subpar materials that can irritate the skin and wear out quickly. Lison Paris takes a different approach. They use eco‑friendly, UPF 50+ certified fabrics sourced from top European weavers. This commitment to quality means that every swimsuit not only looks and feels luxurious but also lasts longer and provides better protection from the sun’s harmful rays.

Investing in a higher‑quality bathing suit might cost a bit more upfront, but in our experience, the benefits outweigh the price—longer wear, better skin compatibility (which I always consider because one of my sons has eczema), and a more refined appearance that truly elevates your family’s swimwear wardrobe.

I think ‘luxury’ starts with craftmanship, a love of detail, and the choice to use the best materials. We are also very rigorous with our choice of colors, prints and finishings. We choose to work with French photographer, graphic designers, etc…”

Alex and Olivia uphold the highest standards, never compromising on quality.

Comfort Meets Practicality

When you’re always in and out of the water, comfort is key. Lison Paris’s swimwear feels incredibly soft against the skin—truly buttery in its texture! My daughter wore her Bora Bora one-piece suit for an entire week in Naples, Florida (at this beautiful Airbnb escape!) This is especially important for young swimmers who need movement during lessons and active play. Also, the quality of the fabric ensures that the swimsuit retains its shape and vibrant color even after multiple washes and extended use.

For many parents, finding a swimsuit that meets both aesthetic and functional needs is a challenge. Lison Paris addresses this by offering designs that are as comfortable as they are stylish. Whether it’s frills, low backs, gold beads at the end of tie-straps, every detail is thought out. They also have a Couture Collection for a line with more glam and flare!

Matching Collections for the Whole Family

One of my favorite aspects of Lison Paris is their thoughtful approach to sizing. They offer swimwear for babies, girls, teens, and women, along with a newly introduced bather line for boys—making it easy for the whole family to coordinate. (Now, we’re just waiting on the men’s collection!)

Matching family swimwear isn’t just adorable; it adds an extra layer of fun to beach outings and pool days. Cohesive family looks are a pillar of Beau Coo, and it’s clear that Alex and Olivia have carefully considered every aspect of family life, ensuring that everyone—regardless of age or gender—can experience the same level of comfort and style.

In-Depth Review of the Collection

After testing several pieces from the collection, I’ve compiled my observations on what makes Lison Paris swimwear truly special. Here’s a closer look at some of the key elements:

Buttery Soft Fabrics

The first thing that struck me about Lison Paris swimwear is the luxurious feel of the fabric. It’s incredibly soft, which is essential for children who spend long hours in the water. The quality of the materials used not only enhances comfort but also ensures durability—this is not a swimsuit that will lose its shape after a few wears. The superior fabric quality is a testament to the brand’s commitment to using only the best materials available.

Thoughtful, Refined Design Details

Every detail in the Lison Paris collection is thoughtfully designed. Take the Danrie Baby long-sleeved swimsuit, for example—it features a delicate pattern inspired by the Hamptons, a smooth, easy-to-use zipper for effortless dressing, and charming frill accents on the sleeves and waist. These elements blend style and practicality, ensuring the swimwear is as functional as it is chic. The patterns and prints strike the perfect balance between playful and sophisticated, capturing the essence of a stylish summer getaway.

Eco‑Friendly and Skin‑Friendly Materials

In today’s market, it’s increasingly important for brands to prioritize sustainability and the well‑being of their customers. Lison Paris’s use of eco‑friendly, UPF 50+ certified fabrics is a clear indicator of their commitment to both the environment and customer health. Unlike many fast fashion alternatives that use harsh chemicals or low‑quality materials, Lison Paris’s swimwear is designed to be gentle on the skin. This is especially important for our kids, whose sensitive skin requires extra care when exposed to sun and chlorine. Learn more about their eco-values here.

Coordinated Collections for the Entire Family

Finally, I appreciate the inclusivity of Lison Paris‘s collection. With dedicated lines for babies, children, and teens—both girls and boys—it’s easy for families to create a coordinated look. Plus, it serves as a convenient one-stop shop for all your swimwear needs. Matching swimwear not only elevates the overall aesthetic but also adds a touch of fun to family outings. Whether you’re planning a vacation or a day at the local pool, the option to match makes the experience even more special and helps create bonds!

Because we’re all about the personal touch—what are Alex and Olivia’s astrological signs and favorite French treats?

    • Alexandra: Leo. My favorite treat is a chocolate éclair—I just love them! Also, bread. I love bread! Fun fact: I live on the island of Mallorca with my six kids!
